Former UTA football player Ralph B. Shelton '63, a nearly 20-year Maverick Club member, will be honored later this month as the recipient of the Silver Star from the Arlington Chamber of Commerce.
"Ralph Shelton is a tribute to the Arlington community," said Michael Jacobson, President and CEO of the Arlington Chamber of Commerce. "We are honored to recognize Ralph Shelton with the 2017 Star Award. As a business, elected community and church leader, Ralph has had a profound impact on Arlington."
Mr. Shelton will accept the award at the Arlington Chamber's Annual Meeting & Awards Dinner on September 21, 2017 at the Arlington Convention Center.
The Arlington Chamber's Star Award is the highest recognition given by the Chamber of Commerce to an individual or organization for their significant contributions to the community. Ralph Shelton has played a key role in the growth of both residential and commercial development in Arlington for more than half a century. His passion for community involvement has been extraordinary; having served as Chairs of the Arlington Chamber, Arlington Board of Realtors, Rush Creek Church, and Arlington State Bank. He served as President of UTA Ex-Lettermen's Association and Builder's Association. From 1972-76 he was on Arlington City Council. During his life of service in Arlington he has received numerous awards and recognitions for business and personal achievements.
