SAAC wins community service competition again

Sun Belt Conference Release 

ARLINGTON, Texas -
UT Arlington's Student Athlete Advisory Committee are the back-to-back winners of the Sun Belt Community Service Initiative, claiming the award for the month of December.

The Sun Belt initiative is a monthly competition run by the conference with the team that accumulates the most amounts of monthly victories, winning the overall competition. Each month UTA has climbed up the leaderboard, finishing third in September and second for October, before finally take the top prize in both November and December.

UTA amassed 3,651 points, while second place Georgia State finished with 2,337. Several UTA athletics teams participated in the Salvation Army's "Ring the Bell" campaign as well as collecting many household items for the areas families who were affected by the recent tornadoes in North Texas. Additionally, the teams also collected items that were donated to Mission Arlington.

UTA's student-athletes collected $345 during two days of volunteering for the Salvation Army's "Ring the Bell" campaign.
