From Jim's Desk,

Spring is in the air, along with baseballs and softballs out at Park Row and Fielder. The 2015 UT Arlington Softball and Baseball seasons are upon us in some fancy new digs. If you haven't made it out to Allan Saxe Field yet, you don't know what you're missing. And the upgrades at Clay Gould Ballpark are just as impressive.

Allan Saxe Field has undergone a complete renovation, transforming the home of UTA Softball into one of the premier facilities in the Sun Belt Conference. The 622-seat stadium and clubhouse doesn't take a backseat to anyone. Head coach Kristie Fox and our softball student-athletes are now equipped with a true home-field advantage, as we witnessed during a near perfect run through last weekend's Maverick Invitational.

As part of our commitment, the UTA Softball Diamond Club was created to promote the program, as well as the new stadium, and provide the best experience for fans. Membership in Diamond Club is $100 and includes a season ticket for all home games, commemorative t-shirt, seat cushion and access to reserved seating. Join at UTATickets.com.

Softball single-game tickets are $7 for reserved seating, $5 for general admission and $3 for UTA students. Season tickets are also available for UTA Baseball for $75. The 24-game Clay Gould Ballpark schedule opens Friday with the UTA Hilton Invitational. Single-game tickets are $5 for the general public and $3 for UTA students.

UTA Baseball returns to Globe Life Park in Arlington against Texas on March 17. The Mavericks and Longhorns have never met before in Arlington. Get your tickets before game day for just $8 at UTATickets.com. Tickets at Globe Life Park will be $12. UTA student tickets are free before March 17.

Baseball is also moving into a new clubhouse this season, giving our coaches and staff an onsite home that they've desperately needed for decades. Both clubhouse projects were part of a fundraising project that still needs your support and a number of gifting options remain available. Please contact Kris Wood (817-272-9613/kriswood@uta.edu) for more info.

Women's and Men's Basketball are streaking toward the Sun Belt Conference Championship in New Orleans (March 11-15). Both the Mavericks and Lady Mavericks are in prime position to extend their seasons deep into March, so come join the fun in the Big Easy. Click here to learn more about tickets to the Sun Belt Championship and special packages.

UTA Track and Field, Tennis and Golf are also in full swing. Come on out to UTA Tennis Center and enjoy some sun, serves and maybe free pizza. We've undergone a transition with Men's Golf with interim coach Stuart Powell and new assistant Stuart Deane. We remain committed to giving our golf team all the support necessary to succeed and thrive.

Let me take a moment to congratulate DeLoss Dodds on being named a board of trustee for the Texas Sports Hall of Fame. DeLoss' influence in my life from a professional and personal level cannot be overstated. He has been a mentor, colleague and, more than anything else, a trusted friend.
