UT Arlington senior softball player, Dee Jay Nelson, and senior track and field standout, Coby Morrison, were named the recipients of the B.G. Wilson Scholar-Athletes of the Year to highlight the annual Athletics All-Sports Banquet on Monday.

Nelson, an economics major with a 3.46 grade-point-average, has been named to the Hibernia Bank/Southland Conference Commissioner's Honor roll for three seasons. She was recently recognized as an Outstanding Leader on Campus by the UT Arlington Student Affairs and Student Activities. Nelson, who was named the B.G. Wilson female scholars-athlete in 2006, is the all-time home run leader in softball history with the regular-season final series versus Nicholls State and the SLC Tournament still to be played.

Morrison is a five-time all-SLC athlete who was named the 2007 SLC Indoor Track and Field Student Athlete of the Year and a member of the 2006 Academic All-Conference Track and field squad. He is a math major with a 3.24 cumulative grade-point-average. He was also named the UT Arlington Athletics Alumni Club Male Student-Athlete of the year .

Senior track and field standout Ivovrita Taylor was named the alumni club's female student-athlete of the year.

Senior-to-be volleyball setter Emily Nedderman and men's basketball sophomore, Anthony Vereen, were named the recipient's of the Big Al's Community Service Award.

Team MVP, Jermaine Griffin and Anthony Vereen

Men's Golf - Zack Reeves, Team MVP
Michael van de Venter, Bobby Massa and Bryce Easton, Freshmen of the Year

UT Arlington graduate Randy Snow was the keynote speaker. -
