Excavation begins on Special Events Center site
June 10, 2010 Arlington, Texas - Thursday was a busy day on the UT Arlington campus as the first phase of the excavation for the Special Events Center began. Construction crews have been on the site for months, moving utility lines and taking down a convenience store which sat on one of the parking lots. With the 2010 spring semester finishing three weeks ago, workers have been on the site breaking up the asphalt in the parking lot and constructing a fence around the area. The arena is scheduled to be completed in late 2011 or early 2012.
