Teams compete in 16th Annual Maverick Club Golf Classic

Arlington, Texas - UT Arlington Athletics hosted its 16th annual Maverick Club Classic on Friday, June 10 at the Tangle Ridge Golf Course in Grand Prairie, Texas.

The event was for a good cause, with proceeds from the event benefitting the Maverick Education and Scholarship Fund, which provides financial assistance to UT Arlington student-athletes.

The event was a success as it included 28 teams with 104 participants. UT Arlington President James D. Spaniolo was one of the participants in the 18-holes of golf Friday afternoon.

Along with the 18-holes, there were different competitions, including longest drive, challenge hole competition, closest to the pin and a putting competition.

The winner of the longest drive was Reynaldo Chow. For his success at hole 15 he was presented with a Hooters Golf Package.

The winner of the closest to the pin was Scott Wicke. Wicke received a Cleveland Golf putter compliments of Enterprise Rent-A-Car.

Team of Diego Benitez, Jay Rees, Greg Davis and Wes Worster were crowned the Mavericks Club Classic, finishing with a score of 51.

De Wayne Vaughn, Dan Smith, Dave Chalk and Mike Simms took second place, finishing with a score of 52.
