UT ARLINGTON FINALIZES SPORTS INFORMATION STAFF

Lacefield comes to UT Arlington from Seward County Community College and will serve as the primary media relations contact for the Maverick volleyball and baseball programs and oversee content on www.utamavs.com.
Lacefield was the sports information director at Seward County for four years, covering seven nationally-ranked programs, including baseball, softball, volleyball, men's and women's basketball and men's and women's tennis. Lacefield was also responsible for the athletic department's marketing and promotions, annual fundraising initiatives, Saints Booster Club memberships, athletic department website, photography, game-night basketball posters, game notes and design and production of six-annual media guides.
In addition, Lacefield spent two years (2004-2006) as an assistant baseball coach at the college.
Originally from Greeley, Colo., Lacefield graduated from Seward County C.C. with an Associate's Degree before completing his Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communications/Public Relations from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma. He earned his Master's Degree in Sports Administration from East Central University.
Prior to joining the UTA athletic staff, Mancias served as the interim Sports Information Director at the University of Texas-Pan American where she was the primary contact for all 12 athletic programs.
As an undergraduate at The University of Texas-Pan American, Mancias served as a student assistant sports information director under the direction of Sports Information Director Joe Monaco.
Mancias was a two-year member of the The Pan American Newspaper where she severed as a sports writer and competed in the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association held in San Antonio in 2007. The assistant sports information director was the voice of the Lady Broncs volleyball and basketball program last season. Mancias is a native of McAllen, TX, and is a 2007 graduate of The University of Texas-Pan American where she received her bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism.
Lacefield and Mancias join Athletics Communications Director Darrin Scheid on the three-person staff. Scheid, who was promoted from assistant sports information director in June, is a 1995 UT Arlington graduate and brings two decades of writing and editing experience.
Scheid has worked at five newspapers and two magazines in Texas, including a six-year stint as a sportswriter for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram from 1996-2001. Scheid has also worked on UT Arlington's men's and women's basketball statistics crews for three seasons before joining the staff full-time.
Scheid is the main contact for men's basketball, track and field and golf.
