Arlington, Texas - A chance for free tuition for a semester for an UT Arlington student will be on the line when the Maverick wheelchair, men's and women's basketball teams take to the court for the first time this season at the annual Maverick Madness on Friday, October 14.

The evening's festivities will start at 9 p.m. in the Mavericks Activities Center. Admission to the event is free.

All three teams teams will be introduced to the public and will then scrimmage while head coaches Samantha Morrow and Scott Cross and Doug Gardner from the Movin' Mavs address the crowd and talk about their teams.

There will be two contests for UTA students during the evening. The first will be between two students to see who can make a layup, a free throw and a 3-point shot in the shortest period of time.

The second will be one of the highlights of the evening, as one lucky student will be selected to shoot a halfcourt shot. If the shot goes in, that student will win free tuition for a semester.

There will also be a slam dunk contest between members of the men's team at the end of the evening.

Free t-shirts and other items will also be available for everyone in attendance.
