ARLINGTON, Texas – Tuesday afternoon marked the first flight for the newest addition to College Park Center gameday experience as the Maverick Airpship took to the air.
The airship will fly before games and during halftime of contests at College Park Center and be able to drop coupons for fans. The airship will also have a camera installed in it over the coming weeks so fans will be able to see themselves on the arena's video boards from high-above their seats.
"We are consistently trying to upgrade the fan experience at College Park Center and we believe this airship adds to the gameday fun that can be had at Maverick events in the arena," UT Arlington Senior Associate Athletic Director Gregg Elkin said.
The airship, a product of Over the Top Airships, will make its first public appearance at Maverick Madness on Friday, Oct. 12. Doors to that event open at 7 p.m. and admission is free.
