ARLINGTON, Tex. - Donations for UT Arlington's 11th annual canned food drive are now being accepted and you can help by doing your part.
From Nov. 1-Nov. 19, all home sporting events will feature a collection table outside the main entrance to Texas Hall starting one hour before each basketball game or volleyball match.
The UTA baseball team will accept donations tonight before the volleyball team's match against Southeastern Louisiana. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Texas Hall. Three food items will result in free admission to any game or match during the next two weeks.
All sports teams compete to see which team can collect the most food items. The items are then donated to a local food bank. Over the last 11 years, the athletics department has collected 18,000 food items.
The goal this year is to collect 3,000 food items from the community.
Additional donations can also be dropped off to Senior Associate Athletics Director Debbie Garcia, whose office is located at the Gilstrap Center.
