ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington Athletics Director Jim Baker announced the hiring of Derrick Grubbs as Associate Athletic Director for Game Presentation and Fan Experience.

Baker also announced the promotions of Mishael Berger to Associate Athletic Director for Eligibility and Certification, Kris Wood to Assistant Athletic Director for Annual Giving and Athletic Alumni Relations, and Kimberley Jardine to Athletic Development Coordinator.

Grubbs has worked in the sports industry for 40 years at both the collegiate and professional levels. Most recently he was Director of Events for the University of Texas department of athletics where he was responsible for the game presentations at UT athletic events, specifically football, basketball, baseball and the annual Texas Relays. This included scripting and production of in-game material such as sponsorship elements and entertainment features. During his five years at UT-Austin, he developed a number of video projects to enhance the branding efforts for Longhorn athletics.

A native of Bryan, Texas, Grubbs attended Texas A&M University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism in 1981. He worked in the Sports Information office during his undergraduate years, and served both the athletic department and university's Office of Public Information following graduation. It was during this time that Grubbs became established as a public address announcer and honed his skills as a game entertainment manager.

"The addition of Derrick Grubbs will greatly enhance the game experience for all Maverick fans," Baker said. "Derrick brings years of experience in both collegiate and professional settings, and his expertise in the industry is second to none. We're excited to bring him on board."

Berger is one of the most decorated distance runners in UT Arlington track history and a member of the Hall of Honor. She joined the department full time in August 2004, working half time as a track and field assistant coach, and half time in academic advising. Berger moved into academic advising full time in August 2007, and into her current role with eligibility and certification in March 2012.

Wood joined the UTA Athletic Development team in June of 2013 after serving a two-year stint as an assistant coach for the UTA women's basketball team. As Assistant Athletics Director for Maverick Club and Annual Giving, Wood oversees all aspects of the Maverick Club, the Athletic Alumni, and facilitates premium seating for basketball season tickets.

Jardine joined UTA Athletic department in early 2014. As the Athletics Development Coordinator, she facilitates operations for the Athletic Development staff and coordinates fundraising events, as well as liaising between the Athletics Department and the Office of Development.

"Mishael, Kris and Kimberley have each done an outstanding job in their areas here at UTA," Baker said. "We look forward to their continued growth and success."
