Danny Wardell joined the UT Arlington Strength & Conditioning staff in the fall of 2013. Wardell works with the men's and women's basketball teams. Prior to joining the Mavericks staff, Wardell worked with the men's basketball program at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana.
In the summer of 2013, Wardell spent time with the University of Arkansas, where he was the Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach for the Razorbacks men's basketball team. At Arkansas, Wardell worked under David Deets, one of the most well respected basketball strength coaches in the country.
The native of Great Britain, Wardell worked as a Graduate Assistant at Northwestern State University for one year, working primarily with the women's basketball team, and assisting with men's basketball and football. The Demons men's basketball team went on to participate in the NCAA tournament, after winning the Southland Conference Tournament.
Prior to his move to the USA, Wardell was the Head of Youth Strength & Conditioning coach for the Huddersfield Giants Rugby League team, handling duties for both scholarship and academy squads.
Wardell earned a master’s degree in Health and Human Performance from Northwestern State University, and graduated from the University of Huddersfield with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Coaching with Honors. Wardell is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), he also holds the Certification in Applied Functional Science (CAFS) from the Gray Institute, and Sports Performance Certification from United States Weightlifting (USAW). His hometown is Huddersfield, England.
