For The Sixth Straight Year, UTA Student-Athletes Set A Program Record For Graduation Success Rate
Pete Carlon is retiring from a 35-year career with UTA Athletics.
Debbie Garcia is the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Academics, Compliance and Student Welfare/Senior Woman Administrator. Garcia was an academic advisor for eight years and was named the senior woman administrator in 2004.
In her role as SWA, Garcia represents the interests and assist in addressing the concerns of all female student-athletes and female athletics staff members, assist the director of athletics in addressing student-athlete welfare issues whenever such issues may arise, provide input and recommendations on departmental issues related to gender equity and Title IX compliance and as requested or required, attend NCAA and Sun Belt Conference meetings as the representative of UTA in the senior woman administrator role.
Garcia was a member of the track and field team as a freshman and sophomore before becoming a student assistant. Following her graduation, Garcia stayed a member of the track program as a graduate assistant before assuming her current duties within the department.
Garcia earned a bachelor's degree with a dual major, Political Science and History, from UT Arlington in 1997.
