First-year event celebrated the life of Nancy Baker, launch of the UTA women's golf program
Kristopher Wood was promoted to Associate Associate Director of Athletics for Development in Sept. 2017, after serving in a leadership capacity on the UTA athletic development team for the previous four years.
As Associate Director of Athletics for Development, Wood oversees all aspects of athletics’ fundraising including securing major gifts, growing the Maverick Club Excellence Fund, overseeing sport specific fundraising, managing the Maverick Club, Letterwinner's Association and facilitating premium seating for basketball and marketing season ticket sales for various sport programs.
Wood came to UT Arlington in June 2011 as an assistant coach for women’s basketball. Prior to arriving at UTA, Wood served as a full time mathematics professor and assistant women's basketball coach at Blinn College. He also held the position of head women's basketball coach, mathematics professor and kinesiology professor at Paris Junior College from 2007 to 2009.
He began working in college athletics at Hill College, serving as head coach for women's basketball and men's golf, as well as teaching mathematics and kinesiology courses. Wood is currently pursuing his Ph. D. in Educational Psychology from Texas A&M-Commerce. The focus of his research is Differences in Self-Regulated Learning Skills among Athletes. Wood earned his Master of Science in Sport Management from Baylor University in 2005, and his Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Texas A&M University-Commerce in 2002.
He and his wife, Caroline, reside in Arlington with their son, Adam Fitzgerald.
