For The Sixth Straight Year, UTA Student-Athletes Set A Program Record For Graduation Success Rate
Mary Russell is a Student Development Specialist II, and the Events and Honors Coordinator. She oversees student-athlete academic progress, including GPA, percent of degree, scheduling and eligibility to compete. She provides support for academic success.
Her duties include a college adjustment course for incoming freshmen. She coordinates with various departments on and off campus to provide vital information to first time freshmen, including campus safety, study skills, life after sports, how to pick a major and preparing for graduate school.
As the Events and Honors Coordinator, Russell is responsible for gathering and evaluating information for academic honors awarded to deserving student athletes, and organizing social events for all student-athletes.
Before UTA, she taught high school English and government in Grand Prairie ISD for 17 years. Russell graduated UT Arlington with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. She has been married to Richard Russell since 1988.
