Athletic Training

The University of Texas at Arlington
Founded in 1895 as Arlington State College, The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) is located in the heart of the Dallas/ Fort Worth Metroplex. Texas Arlington is a member of the The University of Texas (UT) system of schools, and currently offers 58 bachelors, 60 masters, and 22 doctoral programs. The city of Arlington is located between Dallas and Fort Worth. Arlington features many nationwide attractions including; The Ballpark at Arlington ( home of the Texas Rangers), Six Flags over Texas, Hurricane Harbor Water Park, and numerous other museums, parks and shopping facilities.

UTA Athletics
The University of Texas at Arlington competes at the NCAA Division I level. UTA is a member of the Southland Conference. The SLC teams include: Lamar, McNeese State, Nicholls State, Louisiana Monroe, Northwestern State, Sam Houston State, Southeastern Louisiana, Southwest Texas State, Stephen F. Austin State, and Texas San Antonio. UTA sponsors 14 men's and women's athletic teams, with over 200 student athletes in competition.

Mission Statement
The Athletic Training Staff of the University of Texas at Arlington consists of the head, associate, assistant, and student athletic trainers. Working with team physicians, our goal is to provide quality medical care for the student athletes of Texas-Arlington. Each member of the Sports Medicine Team will work to provide leadership, advice and service necessary to prevent injury, care for the injured and sick, and rehabilitate and recondition the injured athlete.

Athletic Training Education Program
The Athletic Training Education Program received initial accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)on Ocotber 15, 2003. The Athletic Training major is in the Department of Kinesiology in the School of Education. Questions can be directed to Dr. Lou Fincher Dr. Lou Fincher, Ed.D., ATC, LAT.
