MEDIA INTERVIEW REQUESTS & POLICIES
Representatives of accredited press outlets who request interviews with UT Arlington student-athletes, coaches or staff are asked to contact the UTA Athletic Communications office well in advance of the time and date request.

The best time to conduct interviews with student-athletes either prior to or after practice - the best time varies by team. Please check with the appropriate Athletic Communications staff member about a specific sport.

Practice access is at the discretion of each individual coach. Media that attend a practice session are asked to keep an appropriate distance from the activity and not to talk to student-athletes or coaches while practice is taking place. Team meetings before, during or after practice are private and not accessible to the media.

Interviews will be arranged around the student-athletes and/or coach's schedule. As a departmet practice, phone numbers of student-athletes are not made available to the public.  Member of the media are asked to not contact student-athletes or coaches without prior consent of the Athletic Communications staff.

It is requested that media give the Athletic Communications office enough advanced warning when they would like to arrange an interview or attend a practice. The Athletic Communications office requests 24-hour advance notice to schedule interviews. Last-minute interview requests cannot be guaranteed, however every effort will be made to grant requests.

Post-game interviews following home contests are also handled through the Athletic Communications office. After a brief cooling-off period, coaches and selected student-athletes will be brought to a designated interview area. Team locker rooms are not open to the media.

The Athletic Communications office will do everything to respect the requests of the media and it is expected that the media respect the policies set forth by the Athletic Communications office. Media representatives attending games and/or practices are asked to dress in an appropriate and professional manner with clothing proper for a business casual work environment.

Members of the media are encouraged to be familiar with and abide by the Code of Ethics adopted by the United States Basketball Writers of America.
