ARLINGTON, Texas - Following a successful debut last week, the UT Arlington men's and women's indoor track and field teams will trek to the J.D. Martin Invitational in Norman, Okla., this Saturday.
The Mavericks will not be fielding a full team this weekend as some athletes will instead be preparing for the Bill Bergan Invitational the following weekend in Ames, Iowa. However, head coach John Sauerhage said this weekend is an important step in a season-long process of building a team that can compete for a Western Athletic Conference title.
"Ultimately, we are always looking to get our athletes ready for the conference meet, which is just over a month away," he said. "We established a lot of momentum last weekend in College Station and look forward to keeping that going this Saturday in Norman."
Competing teams include: UT Arlington, Oklahoma, North Texas and Grambling State.
The field events begin at 11 a.m., while running events kick off at 12:30 p.m. from the Mosier Indoor Facility. Live results for the J.D. Martin Invitational will be available at SoonerSports.com.
