ARLINGTON, Texas – Just one day after being named UTA’s Texas Trust Scholar-Athlete of the Week, junior Alexus Henry has been voted the Sun Belt Conference Women’s Field Athlete of the Week.
On Saturday, Henry placed second in the high jump at the Texas Tech Classic after clearing 5-10 ¾ (1.80m). Her mark is tied for the best in the SBC this season and ranks tied for 13th nationally. Through two indoor meets in 2018, Henry has a victory and a second-place showing.
The native of Bridge City, Texas, is the first Maverick to earn an SBC accolade this season. She was previously honored with a weekly league award during the 2016 outdoor season (March 23).
Henry is the school record holder in the indoor high jump (5-11 ½) and the pentathlon (3,666 points). She won the 2016 Sun Belt title in the outdoor high jump and placed among the top 20 in the event at the 2016 NCAA Outdoor Championships.
