ARLINGTON, Texas - The UT Arlington men's and women's indoor track and field teams will complete their regular seasons this weekend at the 39th annual Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational in Lincoln, Neb.
One of the top indoor meets in the country, the Sevigne Invitational will feature 18 Division I teams at the two-day meet. It is a familiar competition site for the Mavericks, who took part in the Mark Colligan Memorial at the Devaney Center just two weeks ago.
The deep, talented field figures to give the Mavs a strong test and provide a good measuring stick heading into the Sun Belt Conference Championships in two weeks.
"We are definitely looking forward to competing at Nebraska this weekend," head coach John Sauerhagesaid. "We've been making progress all season, and it's time to get another good meet under our belts so that we head into the conference meet with a lot of confidence."
UTA currently boasts two of the nation's top 50 competitors in the men's 60 meters. Two-time indoor All-American Clayton Vaughn is ranked 15th in the nation in the event after a season-best time of 6.66 at the Varsity Apartments Invitational. In addition, last week's 6.76 posted by Quentin Butleris the country's 38th-best clocking.
Also among the top 50 nationally is Roland Salesin the high jump. His personal-best mark of 6 feet, 11 inches ranks 49th. In addition, Vaughn is 68th in the 200 meters (21.53).
Field events will begin Friday at 5 p.m., while the first running event will start an hour later. Saturday features the bulk of the meet, with action on the track and in the field slated to start at noon.
