ARLINGTON, Texas - The UTA men’s and women’s cross country teams have earned 2017 All-Academic Team honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), the organization announced today.
It is the second straight year and the fourth time in the past five years that the Mavericks’ women’s team earned the distinction. As a group, the UTA women secured a cumulative grade-point average of 3.24.
Meanwhile, the men posted a 3.13 GPA, giving the squad All-Academic Team honors for the fourth time in seven years.
"We are certainly very proud of both of our teams," UTA coach John Sauerhage said. "It shows that our student-athletes put a tremendous amount of work into their studies, just like they do in their training."
In order to qualify for the award, teams must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or greater and competed in the NCAA Regionals as a team.
