ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington’s track and field teams will close out their indoor regular seasons this week when the squads compete at Wichita State’s Herm Wilson Invitational.
The Mavericks will use this weekend as final preparation for the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Championships, which will take place Feb. 22-23 in Birmingham, Ala. The majority of the teams will compete in Wichita, while a few will continue their training schedules in Arlington and two will compete at the Iowa State Classic.
“It’s crunch time for us,” UTA coach John Sauerhage said. “We’ve been working extremely hard all season to prepare for the conference meet, and we’re excited to have reached this point. We’re looking to post some good marks and take some momentum into the Sun Belt Championships.”
In addition to UT Arlington and host Wichita State, the other participating teams at the Herm Wilson Invitational include North Texas, Oral Roberts and UMKC.
The bulk of the meet will take place Saturday, with just a half-dozen field events (men’s triple jump, men’s high jump, men’s hammer throw, women’s long jump, women’s pole vault and women’s weight throw) set for Friday.
The meet will take place at the Heskett Center Indoor Track and Field Facility. Live video streaming of the Wichita State meet will be available at livestream.com/wsuathletics. Live results also will be available at goshockers.com.
