NORMAN, Okla. - The UT Arlington men's and women's track teams wrapped up their indoor regular seasons Saturday when a small squad of Mavericks competed in the Oklahoma Sooner Invitational.
Quentin Butler highlighted the day with a pair of top-five finishes for the men, including an impressive effort in the long jump. He finished third (23-09.50) with the third-best jump in the league this season. Butler also placed fifth in the 60m with a season-best time of 6.86.
In the weight throw, Heath Skelton placed fifth with a season-best mark of 55-00.25. It ranks the second-best throw in school history.
Jeff Rodriguez, competing for the first time this season due to injury, took fourth in the pole vault (15-07.25).
On the women's side, the Mavericks were strongest in the mile run. Hannah Nilsson was the runner up (5:00.87), while Gabriela Alfonzo took third in the event (5:08.60). In addition, Elin Andersson posted a 2:22.00 in the 800m to finish fifth.
UTA will next compete in the Western Athletic Conference Championships from Thursday to Saturday in Albuquerque, N.M.
