ARLINGTON, Texas – Following successful indoor seasons, the UT Arlington men’s and women’s track teams are set to embark on the 2016 outdoor campaign, one that opens this week at the TCU Invitational.
“We are definitely looking forward to getting back to action in the outdoor season,” UTA coach John Sauerhage said. “This will be a great meet to get us started on our way as we look to continue to improve.”
In the indoor season, the Maverick men placed second at the Sun Belt Conference Championships, while the women took sixth. Individually, the top highlight came courtesy of Roland Sales, who earned Second-Team All-America honors in the high jump after finishing tied for 11th at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
In addition to UTA and host TCU, this weekend’s meet at the Lowdon Track and Field Complex also will include participants from Baylor, Texas, Texas Tech, SMU, Harvard, North Texas, Texas State, Arkansas State and Abilene Christian.
Live results of the action at the TCU Invitational will be available at FlashResultsTexas.com. In addition, FloTrack.com will have extensive coverage of the meet.
Running events begin at 1 p.m., while field events kicked off Thursday night with a pair of throwing events and will continue at 9 a.m. Friday. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students,
This is the lone meet for the Mavericks prior to hosting the Bobby Lane Invitational on Saturday, March 26.
