ARLINGTON, Texas - The league office has announced that senior Quentin Butler has been named the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Male Track Athlete of the Week. Award winners are determined by voting by the SBC's head coaches.
Butler won the 100 meters against a 24-person field that included professionals at the TCU Invitational with a time of 10.36. Despite competing on a wet track, his time is the best in the NCAA in 2015 by .05 seconds and tops in the Sun Belt by .24.
The native of Corpus Christi, Texas, also helped lead the 4x100 relay team to a victory in 40.60. It ranks as the second-fastest time in the league this season despite the adverse conditions.
It is the second time in just over a month that Butler has been honored by the SBC. On Feb. 18, he was selected Indoor Male Track Athlete of the Week.
