ARLINGTON, Texas - Jennifer Brown and Quentin Butler gave UT Arlington a sweep of the Western Athletic Conference's field athletes of the week after their standout performances at UTA's Bobby Lane Invitational on Saturday.
Brown, a senior from San Antonio, Texas, won both the long jump and triple jump at the meet. Her triple jump effort of 41 feet, 1 ½ inches was the third-best jump in school history and currently ranks first in the WAC and 11th nationally. Her winning mark in the long jump (19-06.75) is the second longest in the league and rates 30th nationally.
Butler, a sophomore from Corpus Christi, Texas, was victorious in the long jump at UTA's home meet with a leap of 24 feet, ¾ inches (7.33m). His mark ranks 18th in the nation and is seventh on the NCAA West Outdoor Qualifying List. It is the second-best jump in the WAC this season, just .25 inches off the top mark.
It marks the first time that either Brown or Butler has been honored by the Western Athletic Conference.
