ARLINGTON, Texas -- With a little more than a month remaining before the Western Athletic Conference Championships, the UT Arlington men's and women's track teams are hitting a key portion of their schedules. This weekend, the Mavericks' slated features a key showdown at the Texas State Invitational in San Marcos, Texas.
Texas State is one of the schools who will descend upon Arlington in early May for the all-important WAC Championships hosted by UT Arlington at Maverick Stadium. That helps give a little extra push for the athletes.
"There's a lot that we can accomplish this weekend," head coach John Sauerhage said. "Every week serves as important preparation as we look to compete for a league championship, but this meet is especially intriguing because we'll get an up-close look at how we compare to a very strong WAC school in Texas State. We're looking forward to it."
It's the fourth meet of the season for the Mavericks, who have yet to leave the state of Texas.
The bulk of the events will be contested on Saturday, with just the weight throw and discus slated to begin Friday. For live results, visit www.txstatebobcats.com.
