AUSTIN, Texas – Two Mavericks picked up individual victories to highlight the UTA men’s and women’s track and field teams’ stay at the Texas Invitational. Both wins came in field events, one on the men’s side and one from the women.
Adam Damadzic was victorious in the men’s discus with a throw of 176-5 (53.79m). In five meets this season Damadzic has a pair of wins, two runner-up finishes and a fourth-place showing.
For the women, Alexus Henry claimed the high jump title with a clearance of 5-10 (1.78m). The mark was 1 ¼ inches shy of her Sun Belt Conference-leading jump.
On the track, Erik Martinsson netted the highest finish for UTA, as he was the runner up in the 800 meters with a time of 1:53.26. Emeka Nwangwu also had a podium finish, grabbing third place in the 110m hurdles with a clocking of 14.07.
The Mavericks will return to action next week at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., and the John Jacobs Invitational in Norman, Okla.
