ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington sprinter Clayton Vaughn has been named the Sun Belt Conference Male Track Athlete of the Week on the heels of his record-setting run last Saturday at the Texas Invitational.
The junior from Sulphur Springs, Texas, returned from injury to win the 100 meters in Austin in his first event of the outdoor season. His time of 10.07 (wind aided) set a new school record and is the fastest time in the Sun Belt Conference this year by .21.
The wind reading (+4.4) was over the NCAA allowable maximum of +4.0, or the time would rank as the third fastest in the NCAA this season.
It is the fourth time that Vaughn has been honored by the SBC, as he earned the weekly award three times during the indoor campaign.
