ARLINGTON, Texas - The UT Arlington men's and women's track and field teams are set to head to California this week, with a trip to the prestigious Mt. SAC Relays highlighting the itinerary.
"This is an exciting week for our team," head coach John Sauerhage said. "There is a world-class field at this meet every year and it gives us a chance to compete against the best and see how we stack up."
The Mavericks had a total of 28 individuals qualify for the Mt. SAC Relays, which are held in Walnut, Calif., at historic Hilmer Lodge Stadium. The meet will run Thursday through Saturday.
A total of eight Mavs are scheduled to participate in multiple individual events at Mt. SAC. The women will be especially busy, with six making two appearances.
Included in that group are: Jennifer Brown (long jump, triple jump), Katelyn Hayward (steeplechase, 1500m), Keondra Mallard (100m, 200m), Shannon Reynolds (100m, 200m), DeOna Stafford (110h, 100m) and DeAndrea Smith (200m, 400m).
UTA also will have a select group of competitors at the Beach Invitational hosted by Long Beach State. That meet will take place on Friday and Saturday.
