WALNUT, Calif. - UT Arlington saw some strong performances from both its men's and women's track and field teams on Friday, the second of three days at the prestigious Mt. SAC Relays.
In the women's 100-meter hurdles, both Maverick participants posted top-5 all-time marks at UTA. DeOna Stafford now owns the fourth-best time in school annals (13.98), while Porschea Wilson's 14.13 ranks fifth.
Ashley Burris (1:01.57) narrowly missed a top-5 school time in the 400-meter hurdles. In addition, DeAndrea Smith placed seventh in the 400 meters with a clocking that was just .16 off her school record time set earlier this season.
Shannon Reynolds was one of the two-event stars for the Mavericks, as she placed 13th in the 200 meters (23.93) and 20th in the 100m (11.99). Meanwhile, in the 800 meters, Ashly Wright placed 11th in 2:08.44.
The 4x400 relay team of Burris, Breonna Baldwin, Wright and Smith placed sixth in 3:44.10.
On the men's side, Quentin Butler finished fifth in the 200m with a clocking of 21.15. He also competing in the 100 meters, placing 20th in 10.67.
In the triple jump, Omar Barnes (47-04.25) placed 14th with a UTA season-best effort. Lionel Mungwari (13th) also had a strong jump (23-09.50), while Branko Petrovic (53-04.50) finished 11th in the shot put.
The Mavericks will finish up their California trip tomorrow with action at both the Mt. SAC Relays and the Beach Invitational.
