AUSTIN, Texas - Thirteen UT Arlington men's and women's track and field athletes are set to compete Thursday through Saturday at the NCAA West Preliminary Round being contested at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas.
The 13 Mavericks who qualified for the meet will compete in a total of 17 events, with each one eyeing a top-12 finish in his or her respective event. Athletes with the top 12 times/marks at both the East and West prelims will then qualify for the NCAA Championships held June 5-8 in Eugene, Ore.
"We are very much looking forward to this week," UTA head coach John Sauerhage said. "Our athletes are prepared to perform their best and we are excited to see what they can achieve on such a big stage."
On Thursday, Butler will see action in the long jump (1:30 p.m.) and the 100 meters (6:55 p.m.). Teammate Brandon Waller will also compete in the long jump, while Roland Sales will participate in the high jump at 6 p.m.
On the women's side, Reynolds will run the women's 100m at 6:30 p.m., while Brown is slated for the long jump (6 p.m.). Other women in action on day one are Ashly Wright, who will participate in the first round of the 800m at 8:10 p.m., and long jumper Morgan Domingue.
