T&F: Three athletes advance to semifinals on day one in Austin

AUSTIN, Texas - Three UT Arlington athletes advanced to the semifinals of their respective events on Thursday, the first day of competition at the NCAA West Preliminary Round at Mike A. Myers Stadium. The top 12 in each semifinal will then qualify for the NCAA Championships next month.

In the prelims of the women's 100-meter dash, Shannon Reynolds moved on with a time of 11.62. She placed 18th among the 47 entrants and was one of the 24 individuals to advance to Friday's semifinals.

UTA also saw success in the men's 100 meters, as Quentin Butler advanced after placing 14th overall with a time of 10.33.

Ashly Wright was the third Maverick to reach the semifinals. She finished 15th in the 800 meters with a clocking of 2:07.62.

In other action, Butler finished 40th in the long jump (23-05.25), while Brandon Waller placed 45th (21-09.50). Meanwhile, Roland Sales tied for 30th in the high jump (6-09.50).

On the women's side, Morgan Domingue took 36th in the long jump (18-09.50), while teammate Jennifer Brown placed 41st (18-06.00).
