EUGENE, Ore. -- UTA junior Emeka Nwangwu closed out his stellar 2017 campaign with a 22nd-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Wednesday evening.
In his first-ever appearance at the NCAA meet, Nwangwu posted a time of 14.18. Just eight of the 24 participants in the semifinals earned a spot in Friday's final.
Last month, Nwangwu repeated as the Sun Belt Conference champion in the event. He qualified for the NCAA Championships after running a 13.86 at the NCAA West Preliminary Round. That effort ranked as the No. 5 time in UTA history.
On Thursday, UTA's Helen Falda will compete in the women's pole vault. The event is set to begin at 7 p.m. (CT). It will be broadcast live on ESPN2 and Watch ESPN. Live results will be available here.
