ARLINGTON, Texas – Runners of all ages and abilities will have a chance to participate on UTA's home cross country course next month in the Blazing 5k just prior to the start of Gerald Richey UTA Invitational.
The second annual Blazing 5k Open Division run will be held on Saturday, Sept. 16, at Lynn Creek Park in Grand Prairie. The race will start at 7:30 a.m. Check-in begins at 7 a.m.
"We are excited to host the Blazing 5k run again this year," UTA coach John Sauerhage said. "We look forward to seeing many alumni, former student-athletes, staff members and fans on hand. It’s a great opportunity to run either competitively or for fun, and then watch our current student-athletes kick off the 2017 season immediately afterward."
The Mavericks' men's and women's teams will run in the college races starting at 8 a.m. High school races will follow the college events.
The entry fee for the Blazing 5k is $25, and includes a t-shirt. All proceeds will benefit the UTA cross country program. For more information, contact Danielle Sanders at (817) 272-0684 or firstname.lastname@example.org. To register online, visit www.utamavs.com/5k.
