ARLINGTON, Texas - The UTA track and field programs will serve as the host of the 2018 DFW/UTA Track & Field Clinic. The two-day clinic will take place Jan. 19-20.
This year's clinic will feature lectures and demonstrations from some of the area's most successful and respected high school and college coaches. Attendees will have a chance to learn from those who have won high school state championship teams, coached college conference championship teams, and tutored all-state and All-American athletes.
Featured speakers include Texas UIL state champion coaches Justin Leonard of Southlake Carroll and Kendrick Crumedy of Manvel, as well as longtime high school and college coach Don Hood, now of LeTourneau University.
The UTA staff of head coach John Sauerhage, associate head coach Brandon Berger, associate women's head coach Jordan Durham and assistant coaches Tyrone Edgar and John Ridgway also will be on hand for lectures and demonstrations.
"We are thrilled to be hosting the clinic in January," Sauerhage said. "We have some tremendous coaches from each of the event areas lined up for our lectures and for our learn-by-doing sessions, and we are very excited to be able to use our great home facility as well as the beautiful Hilton Garden Inn."
The Friday night session will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn Dallas/Arlington South, while the Saturday morning and afternoon sessions will provide coaches with hands-on, on-site training at Maverick Stadium, the home of the UTA track and field and cross country programs. UTA has won 31 conference team championships under Sauerhage since 1995.
Cost for the clinic is $75 during the registration period (by Jan. 8), or $100 for late registration or at the door. To register, or for more information, visit UTAMavs.com or contact Durham at (817) 272-5825 or email@example.com. For a special hotel rate at the Hilton Garden Inn Dallas/Arlington South, call (817) 557-8233 by Jan. 8.
