Cross Country Highlights:
Did not participate in any meets.
Competed in three meets during her first season in Arlington.
Placed 20th in the 400m at the Varsity Apartments Invitational with a season-best time of 1:01.37.
Finished 25th in the 400m at the Texas A&M Invitational (1:01.78).
Participated in the 800 meters in three meets on the year.
Finished 16th in the prelims of the 800m at the Sun Belt Conference Championships (2:31.73).
Had a season-best 800m time of 2:29.51 in a 14th-place showing at the Michael Johnson Classic.
Was the Class 3A state champion in the 800m in 2012.
Finished as the state runner up in the 800m and took fourth in the 400m as a senior in 2013.
Had personal bests of 2:15.29 in the 800m and 57.00 in the 400m.
Also competed in powerlifting and basketball.
Placed fourth in the region and 11th in the state in the 123-pound weight class for powerlifting.
Personal bests include: bench press (145 pounds), squat (230 pounds) and dead lift (300 pounds).
Is the daughter of Martha & Antonio Ortega.
Is a criminal justice major.
Graduated fourth in her class and was a member of the National Honor Society.
