ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington Men's and Women's Basketball recognized its alumni on Jan. 4 with 49 former student-athletes attending the inaugural event at College Park Center. Men's Basketball returned 27 former student-athletes, and Women's Basketball returned 22 former student-athletes.
Basketball Alumni were invited to attend the men's and women's shootaround and meet the current teams. The Alumni also participated in an alumni co-ed game earlier in the day. The alumni took the court at the conclusion of the men's game to be honored, much to the delight of our dedicated fans.
"It sure was nice to see so many of UT Arlington's great basketball alumni that have worked so hard over the years," men's coach Scott Cross said. "I am very thankful for all that they have done for the program. We wouldn't be here today without all of their dedication, sacrifices and hard work."
Women's coach Krista Gerlich added: "We had a great turnout for the first year. I am really excited that our alumni returned and want to be involved with what we are building here. I look forward to continuing to grow the alumni event each year."
Returning for the alumni day were Sheena Johnson Wallace, Tiffeny Riles Parker, ShayeYoakum Carpenter, AshleyBobb, Temeckia Brown, Tracy Burr Lemonia, Coach Donna Capps, Elizabeth Clark, LaQuita Delasbour, Jenny Floyd, Crystal Franklin,Donna Freeman, Kashayla Hawkins Manning, Melanie Lane, Melissa Miller, G Minnerly, Anjessica Moffitt, Ashley Purgason, Justice Ramos, Carolyn Smith, Tojjinay Thompson, Ashley Crawford, Chris Babbitt, Zak Buncik, Kevin Butler, Bryan Chambers, Scott Cross, Al Culton, Larry Curry, Brady Dawkins, Patrick Espinoza, Will Floyd, Daniel Francis, Dwight Gentry, Jermaine Griffin, Roger Guignard Jr., Jarrett Howell, Robert Hughes Jr., Cardell Hunter, Robert Jenkins, Darnell Johnson, Jabari Johnson, Rick Leggett, Hungo Makor, Tommy Moffitt, Beaux Olaiya, Trey Parker, Jason Porostovsky, and Greg Stuckey.
This marked the fifth reunion held for Athletic Alumni this year by the Athletic Alumni Chapter.
"I have been very pleased with the turnout for all of our athletic reunions this year. This is a critical step in building tradition and pride among our current and former student-athletes, as well as showing our alumni that we are always here for them," said Kris Wood, coordinator of the Athletics Alumni Chapter.
