Maverick Club set to celebrate historic season

April 13, 2017

ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Maverick Club will conduct a pair of special events in the upcoming weeks to celebrate the successful 2016-17 UTA athletic season.

UTA alumni and fans are invited a reception to honor the men’s and women’s basketball teams on April 18 at the UTA vs. Texas A&M baseball game at Clay Gould Ballpark. On Monday, May 1, the department’s annual All Sports Banquet will be conducted in College Park Center to celebrate the accomplishments of each of UTA’s 15 sport programs and its talented student-athletes.

The year opened with a bang duiring the fall season as the men’s cross country team claimed the Sun Belt Conference title and the athletic department hosted the Sun Belt Conference Volleyball Championships to rave reviews. The winter season saw the men’s indoor track and men’s basketball teams claim conference championships. The men and women’s basketball teams advanced to the postseason and put together the 18th best combined record in the nation.

The success of the athletic department relies on talent, a great institution and a dedicated support group in the form of the Maverick Club. With four months remaining in this fiscal year, Maverick Club members have already surpassed last year’s total amount of donations pledged and contributed. Most recently, Maverick Club members partnered with Texas Trust Credit Union to raise nearly $20,000 in the span of 48 hours.

With the continued support of current donors and the addition of new Maverick Club members, it’s possible that the Maverick Club could reach $1 million in commitments for the first time in program history.
