2003: 7-4, 4.69, one save...made 21 appearances with 10 coming in the starting role...ranked second on the team in wins and starts, and third in innings pitched with 63.1...made the switch from the bullpen to a starter early in the season...went 5-3 as a starter in SLC contests...picked up his first win of the season by pitching two-thirds of hitless ball in a victory over Misissippi...pitched a season long 7.2 innings to pick up the victory against McNeese State...allowed two earned runs with four strikeouts in that contest...pitched two scoreless innings to earn a save against TCU.
SLC Tournament: Made two appearances with one start...went 1-0 in 4.1 innings of work...picked up the victory in the opener by throwing one pitch to retire the side with the bases loaded in the ninth against Northwestern State...pitched four innings, allowing two runs on six hits in a no decision against Louisiana-Monroe.
2002: 1-2, 6.34...made 16 appearances, three starts...20 strikeouts, 10 walks...started Feb. 2 vs. Centenary, Feb. 9 at Louisiana Tech and March 5 at Texas A&M...earned win April 8 in relief appearance vs. Nicholls State...appeared in just one of UTA's 11 games in May.
2001: 4-4, 4.20...true freshman performed very well after being forced into action in mid-March...coaches had planned on redshirting him, but pulled the redshirt after numerous injuries to the mound corps ...became one of the team's top three starters...nine starts were third most on team ...earned win in first appearance, tossing a perfect inning in relief effort vs. Iowa State March 13...won again in second appearance with 3 2/3 innings of relief vs. McNeese State...struck out 29 while walking 14... longest stint before SLC Tournament outing vs. Lamar came April 7 in UTA's 8-3 win at Sam Houston State...went seven innings in that game, allowing two runs on six hits with three strikeouts to improve to 4-1...3-0, 3.60 in SLC games.
SLC Tournament: Tagged with loss in 1-0 defeat to Lamar, despite giving up just one run in a complete game effort...0-1, 1.13 ERA in tourney...allowed five hits and three walks while striking out six batters in his lone appearance...held Lamar to a .185 batting average (5-for-27)...dropped season ERA by almost a half-run, from 4.37 to 3.88, with the outing.
NCAA Tournament: Appeared in both games vs. Rice in NCAA Tournament...0-1, 11.59 ERA in 2.1 innings...retired all four batters faced in relief appearance in first NCAA Tournament game...tagged with loss after allowing three earned runs on four hits in one inning as starter in loss on season's final day.
Prior to UTA: A three-time All-District selection at Mesquite High School...earned first-team All-District honors as a junior and senior, and a second-team award as a sophomore...Mesquite's team MVP as a senior...was 8-5 with a 1.07 earned run average in 82 innings of work in 2000...struck out 96 batters and walked 41 last season...named to the 1999 AAU 17-and-under All-Tournament Team.
