Prior to UTA: Helped lead Midland High School to a 91-21 overall record...team went a perfect 12-0 in district play his senior year...earned first team all-district honors after hitting .371 with five home runs and 34 RBIs as a senior...owned an 8-1 record with six saves and a 2.14 ERA on the mound...did not allow an earned run in district play as a senior...struck out 52 batters in 49 innings pitched...second team all-district pitcher as a senior...was a part of the 5A Texas state championship team as a sophomore and helped lead the team to the regional semifinals his junior and senior years...also participated in basketball at MHS.
