ARLINGTON, Texas - The University of Arkansas completed a doubleheader sweep of Texas-Arlington on Sunday as the No. 25 Razorbacks scored three runs in the top of the 12th inning to hand the Mavericks a 4-1 decision Sunday afternoon at Clay Gould Ballpark.

The Hogs (4-0) got a rally started in the 12th inning as Scott Hode drew a leadoff walk before moving to second on a John Marquardt ground out to second. Scott Bridges, the hero from game one, came through again with the game winning RBI as he doubled to right field to score Hode. The lead grew to three just two pitches later as Brian Walker hit a two-run shot to right field.

The Mavs (2-4) made a little noise in the home half of the inning as Aaron Batlle started things with a single to left center and Ryan Nelson drew a walk. The rally stopped right there as Scott Williams struck out looking and Brett Lewis grounded into a game-ending double play.

The Hogs got the scoring started in the fifth inning as Bridges had a one-out bunt single and stole second. Clint Arnold plated Bridges with a single into right field.

UTA's lone run of the game came in the eighth inning as Ryan Nelson hit the first pitch of the inning over the left field wall for his and the team's first home run of the season.

The Mavs had a chance to win the game in the ninth inning as Nathan Warrick singled up the middle and stole second. Joe Newman followed with a pinch-hit walk and Brett Fenner advanced the runners with a groundout to the right side. Dane Ryan would then entice a base on balls to load the bases.

UA then went to the bullpen and brought in left-hander Trey Holloway who struck out Aaron Batlle and got Nelson to ground out to third on the first pitch.

The Mavs got another strong start from their pitching staff as Jake Baxter went seven innings allowing one run and striking out three. Russell Reichenbach had his second solid relief appearance as he went four innings allowing two hits and fanning two.

Holloway (1-0) earned the victory as he allowed one hit in 2.2 innings of work. Josh Smith earned his first save of the season as he allowed one hit and struck out one in one inning of work.

The UTA offense collected a season-high 13 hits with Warrick leading the way with three and Ryan Nelson, Scott Williams and Alex Schenck each collecting two. The Hogs offense was led by Bridges three hits and two runs scored.
