MAVS HAD CHANCES IN 3-2 LOSS

DALLAS, Texas - UT Arlington had its chances to score early, but only managed two runs as the Mavs dropped their third straight game, 3-2, to Dallas Baptist Thursday night at Patriot Field
The Patriots (6-6) got on the board in the second inning as Evan Bigley and Matt Tucker started with base hits before advancing a base on a groundout. Will Stramp drove in a run with a single through the left side and Brandon Bantz followed with a sacrifice fly to left center.
DBU pushed across another run in the third as JT Bloodworth doubled off the left-field wall and came around to score on a groundout off the bat of Garrett Baker.
The Mavs threatened to take the lead in the sixth as Danny Slinkman doubled to right center, Leo Radkowski walked and Ben Burum did the same to start the inning, but UTA only managed one run on a double-play ball to short.
Victor Black (2-0) picked up the victory after allowing two runs on four with hits with six strikeouts and five walks in 5.2 innings. Dillon Gee (1-3) suffered the loss after allowing three runs on five hits with four strikeouts in six innings. Randall Taylor earned his first save by retiring all five hitters he faced.
The Mavs return to the diamond tomorrow evening as they host Northwestern at 6 p.m. at Clay Gould Ballpark.
