Arlington, Texas – Lance Day and Collin Reynolds each had strong outings on the mound, leading UT Arlington to a Saturday sweep of Houston Baptist and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at Clay Gould Ballpark.

The Mavericks have won five straight and improved to 9-2. UTA is also now 3-0 against the HBU this season, with a fourth meeting scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m.

Reynolds picked up his second win and Michael Guerra drove in three as UTA handled Houston Baptist, 12-2, easily in the first game.

The Mavericks pounded the Huskies after falling behind 1-0 before coming to bat. UTA scored five in the bottom on the first on five hits, with the first three batters getting on safely.

Guerra had a two-run single in the inning. Preston Beck, Greg McCall and Stewart Hill also had RBIs in the first.

UTA added another four runs in the seventh to put the game away. Nine Mavericks had at least one hit, with Beck and Guerra each getting three.

Reynolds (2-0) went seven innings and didn't allow an earned run. His ERA dropped to 2.70.

Day (4-0) came back in the nightcap with an eight-inning, three-hit effort. He struck out five before giving way in the ninth to Chad Nack, who worked a scoreless inning for his third save.
