ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington had little trouble with the University of Dallas on Wednesday night, blasting the Crusaders 13-3 at Clay Gould Ballpark.
The Mavericks improved to 18-11, trying their season-long winning streak at five straight. UTA has scored at least nine runs in the last four games and has won the last two games by the 10-run rule.
The Mavericks scored six runs in the second inning to put the game out of reach. UTA used seven pitchers in holding Dallas to six hits, with starter Chase Weaver (2-0) picking up the win.
"Good win," UT Arlington coach Darin Thomas said. "Glad we got some pitchers in and we wanted to get a game in mid-week."
There's not much time to rest for the Mavericks with the start of the three-game Southland Conference series against Nicholls State on Thursday night at Clay Gould Ballpark.
UTA would normally have two days off between a Tuesday nonconference game and a league series. But Tuesday's game against Dallas was rescheduled due to inclement weather and the Nicholls series runs through Saturday to leave Easter Sunday open.
