Game 3 Starters:
UTA - TBA vs. NMS - Christopher Bradley (4-4, 4.12 ERA)
LAS CRUCES, New Mexico – New Mexico State jumped UT Arlington starter Zach Thompson and the Mavericks never recovered in a 11-1 run-rule loss Saturday night at Presley Askew Field.
The Aggies evened up the Western Athletic Conference series 1-1 going into Sunday's rubber game at 2 p.m. CT. The Mavericks (23-20) remain second in the WAC at 11-6, trailing league leader CSU Bakersfield by one game.
Thompson (5-3) struggled from the get-go, as the Aggies scored four runs in the first. Robert Lecount had the big blast, a three-run shot over the scoreboard in left-center. New Mexico added another two in the second to leave the Mavericks in a 6-0 hole.
UT Arlington didn't get its first run or hit until the fourth against Aggies starter Ryan Beck. Darien McLemore's single up the middle brought home Greg McCall, who reached after being hit by a pitch.
Beck (6-3) kept the Mavericks guessing throughout his complete-game seven-inning stint. The left-hander allowed one run on three hits and struck out eight.
