UTA (31-19, 17-5 SLC) got on the scoreboard in the second inning as Chris Taylor hit his eighth home run of the season over the right field fence.
The Kats (18-30, 7-15 SLC) quickly responded in the home half of the second as the first three batters of the inning reached on a walk, single to left field and a bunt base hit. With one out, Dustin Martin hit a sacrifice fly to center field to tie the score at one. Jeremy Locke followed with a two-run triple down the right field line to give SHSU the 3-1 advantage.

Hunter Pence was hit in the back to load the bases again and Taylor plated all three runners with a double into left center field. Preston plated Taylor with his second single of the inning and went to second on an error by left fielder Martin. Williams' second hit of the inning scored Preston with the eighth run of the inning.
UTA padded its lead in the eighth inning as Taylor delivered a one out double off the left field fence and advanced to third on a Preston groundout. Williams scored Taylor with a single behind the bag at third. After stealing second, Deevers singled off the pitchers glove and when shortstop Jeremy Holzbach threw the ball away at first, Preston came in to score the 11th run of the game.
Batlle, Taylor, Preston and Williams each collected three hits as UTA pounded out 16 in the game. Taylor also knocked in four runs.
