ARLINGTON, Texas - The University of Texas at Arlington baseball team will host the first-ever college baseball game at QuikTrip Park in Grand Prairie, Texas as they will play Minnesota on Tuesday, March 17 at 6:30 p.m.
QuikTrip Park is the home for the Independent Grand Prairie AirHogs of the American Association of Professional Baseball league. The $20 million, 5,445 seat venue opened in May of 2008.
"We feel it is a great situation for UT Arlington to play Minnesota at our ballpark on St. Patrick's Day," said AirHogs general manager David Burke. "It will be great exposure for our stadium and our organization and we hope both teams enjoy the experience."
"It is an exciting opportunity for our program," said second-year UT Arlington head coach Darin Thomas. "It will be a great experience for our players and should make for a fun atmosphere for our fans."
Adding to the St. Patrick's Day environment, the Mavericks will wear green uniform tops and green hats, which will be auctioned off following the game.
Tickets for the game will be available on the day of the game at QuikTrip Park. Tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for seniors (65 and over), children 18 and under and all UTA students. Gates to the ballpark will open at 5 p.m.
The UT Arlington-Minnesota series will conclude with a game at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday March, 18 at Clay Gould Ballpark on the UTA campus.
