NCBWA Tabs Mitchell National Pitcher of the Week

ARLINGTON, Texas - Senior right-handed pitcher Jason Mitchell has been named The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Pro-Line Athletic National Pitcher of the Week the organization announced Tuesday.
It is the second national player of the week honor for Mitchell after striking out a school and conference record 18 batters last Friday against Missouri State. Mitchell was also named a Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week by The Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.
Mitchell carried a no-hitter through 8.2 innings and finished the game pitching 9.0 innings while allowing no runs and one walk throwing 134 total pitches (85 strikes).
He broke the school strikeout record that was previously 16 (Roger Lancaster, 1997) and the Southland Conference record which was 17 (Lamar's Clay Hensley, 2002).
In two starts this season, Mitchell owns a 1.38 ERA in 13.0 innings pitched with 22 strikeouts and two walks allowed. He has allowed only eight hits and six runs while opponents are batting .170 against him.
