March 11, 2013 UT Arlington at University of Arkansas at Little Rock March 12 / Gary Hogan Field Live Stats: www.ualrtrojans.com Tuesday: 3 p.m. Probable Starting Pitchers UTA: Chad Nack (2-2, 6.75 ERA, 5 App.) ARLINGTON, Texas - The Mavericks travel to face future Sun Belt Conference foe University of Arkansas at Little Rock on Tuesday at 3 p.m. The Mavericks (9-6) are coming off a week in which it went 2-2 against Big 12 teams Oklahoma and Texas Tech and are ending a four-game road trip against the Trojans (9-7). This will be the first time that UTA will travel to face UALR. The previous five meetings took place in Arlington and the Mavericks are 4-1 all-time against the Trojans. "It's going to be a good day for us," UT Arlington coach Darin Thomas said. "We need to be on the road. There are no excuses. We need to go in there and play well before we have McNeese on the weekend." UTA is just 1-3 on the road this season after losing two at Texas Tech and a 2-1 loss at Texas on Feb. 19. The Mavericks have five players that are hitting above .300 and are hitting as a team .290 with 82 runs scored in 15 games. Matt Shortall increased his batting average over the weekend for UTA to a team-high .385, good for third overall in the Western Athletic Conference. Shortall was 7-18 in four starts with seven hits, three doubles and four RBI last week. The Trojans bolster an offense that has 13 home runs and 84 runs overall. Blake Johnson leads the team with a .348 average. Following the midweek game, UTA returns home on Friday to begin a three-game series with McNeese State and then takes on TCU at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington on Tuesday March 19.
